Department of Management Studies

Department of Management was established in 2009 with the intake of 60 seats to provide the future managers of India with the latest principles, practices, and technologies of modern management from around the world. The goal of Management Department is to promote excellence in management education and to prepare young men & women to meet the challenges of the developing corporate world. The provision of central computing facility with Wi-Fi technology is available in the campus. Department of Management has a large pool of well qualified and highly accomplished faculty members with sound conceptual knowledge in their respective areas. Since its inception, the department has been moving ahead, continuously in tandem with the growth and diversification in the business field maintaining constant interaction with various industries.

Program Outcomes (POs)

PO1: Business Environment and Domain Knowledge: Economic, legal and social environment of Indian business.. Graduates are able to improve their awareness sand knowledge about functioning of local and global business environment and society. This helps in recognizing the functioning of businesses, identifying potential business opportunities, evolvement of business enterprises and exploring the entrepreneurial opportunities.

PO2: Critical thinking, Business Analysis, Problem Solving and Innovative Solutions: Competencies in quantitative and qualitative techniques. Graduates are expected to develop skills on analyzing the business data, application of relevant analysis, and problem solving in other functional areas such as marketing, business strategy and human resources.

PO3: Global Exposure and Cross-Cultural Understanding: Demonstrate a global outlook with the ability to identify aspects of the global business and Cross Cultural Understanding.

PO4: Social Responsiveness and Ethics: Developing responsiveness to contextual social issues and exploring solutions, understanding business ethics and resolving ethical dilemmas. Graduates are expected to identify the contemporary social problems, exploring the opportunities for social entrepreneurship, designing business solutions and demonstrate ethical standards in organizational decision making. Demonstrate awareness of ethical issues and can distinguish ethical and unethical behaviors.

PO5: Effective Communication: Usage of various forms of business communication, supported by effective use of appropriate technology, logical reasoning, articulation of ideas. Graduates are expected to develop effective oral and written communication especially in business applications, with the use of appropriate technology (business presentations, digital communication, social network platforms and so on).

PO6: Leadership and Teamwork: Understanding leadership roles at various levels of the organization and leading teams. Graduates are expected to collaborate and lead teams across organizational boundaries and demonstrate leadership qualities, maximize the usage of diverse skills of team members in the related context.

“Daksh Club of Department of Management Studies organised an activity JUST A MINUTE for the students of BBA, B.COM & MBA on 19 April 2023.”

Just A Minute (JAM) Session is a one-minute impromptu speech. The motivation behind conducting this activity was to help the students to improve their spoken English and confidence levels during public speaking.
For conducting this activity, the students were given a topic on the spot. Some time was given to think about it and assimilate all their ideas. After the thinking time was over, they were given a minute to express their views on that particular topic.

Treasure Hunt

Treasure hunt is an activity which challenges to thinking and use creativity to solve mysteries.

Cracking mysteries solving puzzles makes them more confident in taking up any challenges.

Daksh Club of Department of Management Studies threw this challenge to the students of BBA, B.COM & MBA on 12 April, 2023.

The activity gave them an opportunity to communicate effectively, act responsibly in a team and improve their social skills.

It was played in a team consisting of four members.

All the teams members were given clues and the team which could solve all the clues and collect the items on the list first of all, would be declared as the winner.

The students displayed tremendous spirit and presence of mind in solving puzzles together, spanning out to look for clues and find the treasure ultimately.

To give practical experience to the students, the Department of Management organized an industrial visit for MBA, BBA and B.COM students to LT FOODS LTD. (DAAWAT BASMATI RICE), AMRITSAR.”

This plant mainly focuses on the procurement and processing of Basmati Rice for B2B and B2C customers.
A group of management students went to DAAWAT BASMATI RICE plant on 25-03-2023 accompanied by Dr. Monika Arora and Mr. Sunny Khanna. These students learnt about the processing of different qualities of basmati rice from warehousing stage to semi-finished stage and further to finished goods stage .
Students were taken to various units, where dehusking and polishing process is carried own. At the final stage students also came to know how packing is done at conveyor belt to make the finished and processed rice ready for marketing.
The Production Manager gave a live demo of basmati rice packaging at the automatic machines. He also told about the generation of electricity from Steam Generation Unit, Rain Water Harvesting and Solar Power System at the premises of LT Foods.
The Human Resource Manager( HR and Admin) Mr. Sanjay Pandita elaborated the different stages of the processing and satisfactorily answered the queries raised by the students.
The students expressed their gratitude to the Management and all of them said that they have become knowledgeable as they gained first-hand experience of the industrial working environment.
This visit proved very useful.

Daksh Club of Department of Management Studies organised BUSINESS QUIZ for the students of BBA, BCOM & MBA on 5th April, 2023.

A business quiz is an educative and exciting way of enhancing business related knowledge, skills and intricacies. It identifies knowledge gaps, boosts confidence and helps students retain information.

Since questions are based out-of-syllabus and require critical thinking and extensive research, students get into the habit of innovative learning. It also encourages team work as students need to form teams while participating in the quiz, giving them an opportunity to hone their teamwork skills.

The quiz turned out to be a very close game between the participants, giving enthralling time to the audience. It was thoroughly enjoyed by participants, faculty and the students.

Daksh Club of the Department of Management Studies organized ROLE PLAY activity for the students of BBA, B.COM and MBA on 29 March 2023.
Role play is an activity in which the students get an opportunity to assume the role of a Manager or some other person and to act out in a given situation.
These roles can be performed in pairs, or in groups which can play out a more complex situation.
This activity improves students engagement levels. Students get transformed from being passive recipients to active actors in the classroom.
It helps them to understand a situation from different perspectives and enables them to view things from another’s point of view.
The students showed a lot of enthusiasm in enacting their roles.
It was a great learning experience for all the students.

He spoke on the ‘Personality Analysis and Development of Key Areas’, and their significance in making career.
He exhorted the students to work hard as there are no short cuts in real life.
As humans, we wish to achieve many things in life but these things need hard work to be able to achieve them.
He asked the students to do self Personality Analysis and work on their weak areas.
He explained that the employers now prefer employees who are willing to learn new skills and are ready to think out of box. He also discussed how multitasking can help the employees to advance their career.
It was an enriching session for both students and faculty members and they highly appreciated it.

“Daksh Club of Department of Management Studies conducted the activity of BRAND RANGOLI for the students of BBA, BCOM & MBA on 1st March, 2023.”

The main purpose of this activity was to make students aware of different brand logos and also also to make learning a sheer joy and entertainment.
Moreover, the students learn to develop cognitive skills, aesthetic sense and colour coordination skills in this activity.
Each team comprised of 4 to 5 members and there was only one round.
Each Rangoli was unique in its own way and a pure treat to the eyes.
In fact, it was a challenging job for the judges to decide the winners.

“Daksh Club of the Department of Management Studies organized DEBATE for the students of BBA, BCOM & MBA on 22nd February, 2023.”

The topic given for the debate was “Does Modern Social Media Make People less Socially Active” ?
Logical Arguments were given by all the participating teams. Points raised in the debate were acknowledged by the students with cheers and claps.
The competition became interesting with the exchange of students perspective and stating the merits and demerits of the topic given.
It was a great learning experience for all.

Daksh Club of Department of Management Studies organised an activity of AD MAD SHOW for the BBA, B.COM & MBA students on 16th February, 2023.
It comprised of humorous and conceptual ad presentations by the students.
A theme was given in advance and the students presented an advertisement for the same in a team of 3-5. The objective was to acquaint the students about promotional strategies in marketing through advertisements.
Students were creative in their presentations and came up with some super interesting and hilarious advertisement ideas.
The activity was a successful and provided an excellent learning experience to the students.

It help students to learn through friendly competition, examine controversial topics and strengthen skills in the areas of leadership, interpersonal influence, teambuilding, group problem solving and oral presentation.

The main objective of this activity was to develop creative thinking among the students and also to improve the communication skills and confidence level of the students.

This event was organized for BBA, B. COM and MBA students seperately.

The students participated in the activity with full zeal and enthusiasm.

Workshop on Digital Marketing

Workshop of IIM Kozhikode for MBA students on Digital Marketing was recently conducted at Global Institutes by Mr. Neeraj Kheria, Google and IIM certified trainer where three best students were selected for National level round and given certificates of merit.

Dalhousie Trip

Students of MBA2nd &4th Sem was organized trip to Dalhousie. They started their journey on 10th Feb at 6:00 a.m. with Ms. Pallavi Sood (MBA) and Mr. Sumeetpal (HMCT). They reached their by 2:30 p.m after that enjoyed the beauty of place and at night they enjoyed DJ party at hotel. On 11th Feb they again started their journey to Amritsar at 12:00 noon. Students enjoyed their trip a lot.

Case Analysis “Chak De India

Case Analysis Activity was organized by Management Department on 8th Feb,18. Students of MBA 2nd Sem and 4th Sem participated in this Activity. Students were divided into group of 4 students in each group. They were shown clippings of bollywood movie “Chak De India”. Students were asked to correlate the movie with management concept. One of the students from each group presented the management concepts identified by the group by seeing the clippings. The best 3 teams were awarded by certificates. Winning team was from MBA 2nd Sem. With this students of MBA get knowledge about management concept. This activity was become very interesting.

Industrial visit To Verka Milk Plant, Amritsar

Total number of 60 Students from MBA(4th sem) and B.COM(6th sem) planned a one day industrial visit to Verka Milk Plant, Amritsar on 25/01/2018. The journey started at 11:00 AM from college and reached plant at 11:30 AM. The students were divided in a group of two( 32 students each) . They welcomed us. The students interacted with the quality team of the company. The quality team showed various units of Verka milk plant including manufacturing of plastic bottles, TQM, Refilling of glass bottles, preservatives used etc. Students visited the whole plant and gained knowledge. It was an interactive session where students cross questioned the quality team members about the working of the company. After spending approximately one hour at Verka Milk Plant, we reached to college at 1:30 pm. It was a knowledgeable visit where students learnt different techniques and methods used by the organization. Last but not the least, I admire the staff of the organization. They were cooperative and handled students queries calmly.

Quiz Competition “ Daksh”

Quiz Competition was organized by Management Department on 29-Jan-2018 at 11:00 a.m. in HMCT Block. B.Com, BBA, ATHM and HMCT were participants of this Competition. Four rounds were there, each round carried 4 questions of 5 marks each and there will be no negative marking. Round 1 was of General Knowledge, Round 2 was to identify the Personality, Round 3 was of General Awareness and last but not least Round 4 was related to Corporate World. This Competition was very interesting and enjoyable for the students. Students also get motivated with this kind of Competitions at Departmental Level. Winners were awarded with Certificates.

PAC Activity

PAC Activity was organized by the faculty members of MBA Department for MBA 2nd Sem & 4th Sem. In this activity PPT on Team Work was presented by Dr. R.K. Ghai (Director GIM) and Ms. Pallavi Sood to motivate the students. Second activity was Collage making, in this team of 4 students was made they have to make a collage of any product and advertise it. From Collage making Winner and Runner Up was Awarded. Third Activity was again in the same team and it was related blowing of Balloons. This PAC Activity was very interesting and enjoyable. Students enjoyed this Activity and get motivated.

Ad – Mad Show organized by Management Department

An AD-MAD SHOW was organized by Global Institute of Management on 28th September, 2015. The show was organized in order to meet the competition through creative & innovative advertisements. All the management students including MBA, B.Com, ATHM, HMCT participated enthusiastically in the show.

Industrial Visit to Coca Cola

The students of MBA were taken to the Coca Cola Company where they were shown the automated machines working for the production, bottling, packaging, labelling & distribution of the Coca Cola Products.

Lt. Col. R. Ravindra (Retd.) Senior Manager HR from Khanna Paper Mill delivered a guest lecture on “Campus to Corporate” to MBA students. He spoke in detail on the importance of employability, Enterprise and Entrepreneurial skills.
