BTech in Artificial Intelligence(AI) is a four-year undergraduate degree programme in the field of engineering. Artificial Intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Specific applications of AI include expert systems, natural language processing, speech recognition and machine vision. Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we live, work, and interact. From our personal lifestyles through our social engagements to the way we conduct our private and corporate businesses, AI is altering our methodologies and changing the landscape of end products. This course is an advanced learning solutions that impart knowledge of advanced technologies such as machine learning, also referred to as deep learning and artificial cognition. The seminar was conducted by Mr Adarsh Bhardwaj
The main objective of this one-day seminar was to make the students familiarize about how AI applications are ruling the world.
The main aim was to tell the students about the scope of AI and ML in the current day Technological Advancements.
First of all, the speaker discussed the importance of the field which is booming in recent years.
He also suggested the application areas in which AI is used.

TECH-TALKS CLUB organised Shoot Showdown (Photography) activity in Department of CSE/IT on April 4, 2023 in which students of CSE/IT participated.
Activity was conducted in Two rounds. It was an individual competition. In round 1, a particular location was given to all the participants. Time limit was 15 minutes. Editing was not allowed. In this round, photo clicked by participants were evaluated for knowing the photography and focusing skills of students.
Selected participants went to round 2 in which a theme was given and participant had to click pictures according to that theme.
Time limit was 20 minutes for round 2.

The CSE/IT Department held a peer tutoring session on AI tools on April 3, 2023 which proved to be an overwhelming success. The session was organized under the guidance of Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, Head of the CSE/IT department.
The topic for the session was “AI Tools” and speaker for the session was Satish Pokharel, a third-year CSE/IT student.
During the session, Satish provided a live demonstration on how to create human avatars using AI tools. He also showcased his skills in Microsoft graphics design, along with several other tools such as GitHub Copilot, YOU Chat, Vectary, Botsify, DeepCode, and many more. He provided the students with valuable insights and tips on how to make the best use of these tools.
The students were highly impressed with Satish’s presentation, which was both informative and engaging. They were able to learn new techniques and approaches for using AI tools for graphic design and human avatar creation.
The peer tutoring session was part of the CSE/IT department’s ongoing efforts to provide students with the best possible learning experience.
Such sessions are crucial for students to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in their respective fields.
The department looks forward to organise many more such sessions in the future.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering/Information Technology organized an enriching industrial visit to Solitaire Infosys in Mohali on April 1, 2023 for the students of CSE/IT second year.
The visit aimed at providing the students practical exposure to the latest industry trends and technologies such as Python, IOT, Mobile Application Development, and Machine Learning.
Mr. Nitish Kumar, a seasoned software developer gave demonstration of various live projects such as Campus Edge, ERP system and School Diary to the students, providing a deeper understanding of the practical applications of the latest technologies.
The team of experts at Solitaire Infosys generously shared their knowledge with the students, providing a detailed overview of the various concepts and illustrating how they were utilizing to solve real-world problems.
In addition to the knowledge sharing session, the students had the opportunity to interact with professionals in their field of interest and gain practical insights into the industry.
All the students were provided with certificates of participation, which served as a testament to their active involvement and keen interest in the visit.

On the 30th March 2023, a seminar was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering to delve into the topic of Computer Vision.
The seminar was conducted by Ashish Jalota, the Co-founder and Director of Ansh Infotech Ludhiana.
The primary objective of the seminar was to impart information and knowledge of Computer Vision and its multifarious applications.
The seminar commenced with an overview of Computer Vision, its importance, and its impact on the current digital landscape. Mr Ashish Jalota elucidated on how computer vision can be leveraged to automate various processes, streamline operations and enhance user experience.
The noteworthy highlights of the seminar were the live demonstrations of various Computer Vision Technologies.
Mr Ashish Jalota showcased the utilization of Computer Vision in Snapchat, Augmented Reality, Amazon Co, Pinterest Lens, Autonomous Cars, Banking, Object Detection, and Image Classification.
These demonstrations provided an in-depth understanding of how computer vision can be leveraged in diverse industries.
Mr Ashish Jalota also showed a demonstration that illustrated how IoT can be remotely( from Amritsar) operated to control the curtains and lights (at Ludhiana’s Office ) with a remote. TECH-TALKS Club organized two activities simultaneously in the Computer & IT Department on 28th March 2023.
The first acitivity was Inter-departmental activity entitled “Web Designing using HTML and CSS”
The event was a grand success, and both Engineering and Diploma students actively participated in it. The competition was conducted in one round with students having to use their HTML and CSS skills to design a website.
An internet connection was provided only for downloading media required for the design.
The activity was conducted as an individual competition, which added to the challenge and excitement for the participants.
Students were given the opportunity to present their designed website, highlighting their creativity and enhancing their ability to express their ideas and thoughts digitally. The activity was not only a great platform for honing editing and designing skills but was also a fun and enthusiastic experience for all.

TECH-TALKS CLUB of Department of CSE/ IT organized an Inter-department “ Technical Quiz” on March 21, 2023, in which students of Engineering and Diploma Classes participated. The event aimed at providing an opportunity to the students to showcase their technical skills and knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, and Java.
The competition was conducted in two rounds and students participated individually.
The quiz was conducted online and students were given 25 minutes to complete each round. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by the students, who promptly engaged in the activity and displayed exceptional problem-solving skills.
After an intense competition, Sanju Thakur (B Tech I-4) emerged as the winner, followed by *Babalpreet Kaur (C 4) in second place and Ramandeep Kaur (C 4) remained at the third place.
All
three winners were awarded certificates by the department for their impressive performance.

On March 9 2023, Sahil Kumar and Bhagyabee Baruah, two enthusiastic third-year CSE students, conducted a Peer Tutoring session for first and second-year CSE/IT students under the guidance of Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, Head CSE/IT.
The session was initiated by Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, who introduced the importance of problem-solving skills and various popular online learning resources, such as Udemy, Coursera, Scalar, and Upgrade.
The session was exceptionally well-structured providing a comprehensive roadmap for Problem Solving (DSA), and practically demonstrated how students can select a problem based on its level of difficulty, company-oriented questions and submit their code in platforms like GeeksforGeeks, Leetcode, Codechef, and Hackerrank.
They two students also demonstrated as to how they can participate in coding contests and how their rank in such contests can help them to identify their areas of weakness and improve upon them.
The session was interactive and several queries raised by the students regarding DSA and Programming concepts were satisfactorily answered.
The peer tutoring session was a resounding success, highlighting the passion and dedication of the CSE/IT students towards their field of study.

The seminar was on the important topic of how to prepare for competitive exams/ UPSC / Government exams or similar exams and also how to face Aptitude Tests.
The seminar was conducted by two prominent speakers Mr. Jatin Sharma and Mr. Sachine Sharma.
The seminar aimed at providing the students with an insight into the strategies, techniques and best practices required to excel in competitive exams, government exams, and aptitude tests.
Mr. Jatin Sharma, in his address emphasized on the importance of a well-structured preparation plan and suggested that consistency and perseverance are the keys to success in these exams.
Mr. Sachine Sharma on the other hand, provided insights into the different types of aptitude tests and discussed various ways to approach them effectively.
The seminar was highly interactive and the students actively participated in the Q & A session.
The students also had the opportunity to network with each other and discuss their queries and concerns with the speakers.

“The Department of CSE/IT organised an expert talk on “Security Issues in Cloud Computing” on 3rd March, 2023.”

The talk was conducted by Mr. Sham Sundar, a Cloud Administrator in Solitaire Infosys Pvt. Ltd with 5+ years of experience in Cloud Computing, Security and Linux.
He discussed different types of security threats that can compromise cloud-based systems, best practices and security measures that can be implemented to ensure system security.
Mr. Sundar provided hands-on demonstrations of various security tools and technologies used in cloud computing, such as encryption, access controls, and security monitoring to improve cloud system security.
The session was attended by students, faculty and staff, who showed keen interest in the topic.
Mr. Sundar patiently responded to all queries and provided practical solutions to security challenges.
The expert talk was interactive, informative and successful.

The teams had 45 minutes to present their dishes in front of judges.

The activity was conducted in One Round only.
Topics were given to participants who had to write on the given topic in about 250 words within a time limit of 30 minutes.
It was an individual competition and all participants had to show their creativity and writing skills
with proper usage of grammar, vocabulary and complex sentences.
This activity promoted not only knowledge but also creative ideas and thoughts.

“Tech- Talks Club organised an Inter- Departmental Chain-Pass activity in the Department of CSE /IT on Oct 18, 2022.”

The students of B.Tech and Polytechnic Wing participated in the activity.
The activity consisted of three rounds :
ROUND 1 (CHAIN PASS)
In this round, 18 students participated. Each student was to pick a slip and pass the message to next student through action to form a chain.
Round 2 (CHAIN STORY)
12 students got selected for this round. There were random pictures shown on the screen. Every student had to chain up story from given pictures in given time interval.
ROUND 3 (PICTURE MEMORY)
After second round, 6 students got selected for this round. There were different pictures shown on screen. Each participant was given 10 seconds to remember the articles shown in the pictures. After timer, screen was hidden and participant was given 15 seconds to list out names.
ACTIVITY OUTCOMES
This activity not only promoted team spirit but also a great fun and enthusiastic experience for all.
This activity also enhanced nonverbal communication of students.

Activity was conducted in two rounds:

Round 1: Online MCQ TEST conducted on C and C++ language.

Participants attempted 30 questions in 30 minutes. Top 35 participants were selected for Round 2.
Round 2:

Problem statement was provided.

Participants type the code with MONITOR SWITCHED OFF. Twenty minutes were given for generating the code as well as to type the code. Participants who ended with minimum errors were announced as winners based on the results of compilation and execution.

This activity not only promoted team spirit and knowledge but also a great fun and enthusiastic experience for all.

On 25 April 2022, the Department of CSE/IT organized a workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Mr. Anshu Aneja – Director of Ansh Infotech and Ms. Kriti Bhatia – AI & ML expert, were the main speakers.
The workshop started with a very motivating note and the students were made aware of the various practical concepts of Artificial Intelligence and its types.
The workshop mainly focused on theoretical knowledge but it also involved the students through practical demonstrations of various Machine Learning and Deep learning models.
Experts from industry demonstrated the hand gesture recognition software through computer vision, automated search preferences, tumour detection algorithmand etc.
Students also had a question answer session with the experts.
Mr. Anshu Aneja encouraged students to lay hands on such interesting and industry demanded concepts. He also motivated the students for appearing in various competitive exams like AMCAT, ELITMUS, etc.
The workshop was very interactive and successful.
Students learned a lot about AI & ML and asked a number of questions.
The Department keeps on organizing such seminars for the benefit of the students so that they remain updated.

The Department of CSE/IT hosted a session on “Placements Preparation” on 24th March 2022.
Mr. Amrinder Pal Singh of VMM Education, began his discussion with a brief orientation session wherein students discussed their reason for selecting Computer Science & Engineering Degree course and their future aspirations from the degree.
The students were acquainted with relevant industry benchmarks and recruitment demands, focusing on the knowledge of coding questions, data structures, and algorithms for cracking placement drives.
He emphasized on the importance of having skills and knowledge of dynamic programming, bit manipulation, graphs, and more to prepare for significant market leaders’ placement as the essential factors of any placement campaign.
The students were also informed about the requirements of multinationals like Amazon, Facebook, Wipro, Capgemini, TCS and many more while hiring software engineers and debunked various misconceptions regarding recruiters and the process.
The session was highly enlightening and the students were enthusiastically engaged in the session, eager to resolve queries and gained valuable insight.

WEBINAR on “MULTI-AGENT SYSTEMS”

A very impressive and informative webinar was organized by Dr.Meenakshi Sharma (CSE/IT) on 24th September 2020. The webinar was delivered by Ms.Pallavi Bagga, a research scholar in Royal Holloway, the University of London on “MULTI-AGENT SYSTEMS”. She has done impressive work in this field by writing a number of research papers on Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and Automated Negotiations.

“Quiz Competition”:

In the activity, there are three rounds of quiz. The first one was MCQ round online.
The second one was normal round with time limit to answer questions.
The final round was the rapid fire round where one where students had to give the answer as soon as possible before the other teams less than 20 seconds.

The Objective of the event was to assess the technical skills and knowledge of participants on various Technologies like Cloud Computing, AI, IOT and Machine Learning.

”Group Discussion”

Group discussion is a platform which gives the opportunity for young aspiring minds to put their opinions, innovative ideas, suggestions on table. Apart from being a healthy discussion, it also acts as a tool to enhance the speaking, idea generation and leadership skills of students.

Topics for Group Discussion were:
1. Smart work or Hard work
2. Ethics or Profits 3.Innovation or Invention.

SEMINAR on Software Agents and Multi-Agent Systems By Dr. Harjot Kaur

Department organized an expert talk by Dr. Harjot Kaur from GNDU Regional Campus, Gurdaspur on the topic Software Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. The session was about various problems that can be implemented using simulation techniques. The seminar also extended to the discussion about the artificial intelligence and intelligent agents. At last, she also practically demonstrated the “Wolves and the Sheep Maths Problem” using agent creating software named: ‘Netlogo’.

SEMINAR on Design Thinking By Er. Eveneet Saini

Department of CSE/IT organized an expert talk by Er. Eveneet Saini, a very learnedand experienced digital marketing expert from Google. She enlightened students with her practical approach towards “ Design Thinking”. She asked the students to be industry ready and always take interest in the subjects taught by their teachers. She said to outstand the crowd innovative thinking is required. She also taught students various techniques to manage stress at various levels of work environment A new approach towards solving a problem or a project is required.

PROJECT EXHIBITION

Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized Project Exhibition of final year students on 22nd May, 2017. Dr. R.C. Gangwar, Professor, BCET Gurdaspur was the Chief Guest for the event. While evaluating the projects, the learned scholar gave suggestions regarding future prospects of their projects. The students exhibited keen sense of competition in the execution of their projects. Dr. Sandeep Singh Kang (HOD,CSE) appreciated the students for their tremendous efforts and show of skill and motivated them to use their projects on the commercial level.

Trip to Mcleodganj

Department of Computer Science & Engineering Organized two days trip to Mcleodganj on 01.04.2017 & 02.04.2017 for B.Tech CSE final year students. The students have explored many places like Bhagsunag waterfall, Mcleodganj market, Naddi and paid obeisance at Dalailama Temple and an old Christ Church. Students had also trekked to a water stream nearby Naddi on the 2nd day of trip. Overall students had a joyful and memorable stay at Mcleodganj.

CSI Student Chapter of Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering Organized Workshop HTML Starter

CSI Student Chapter of Department of Computer Science & Engineering Conducted One Week Workshop HTML Starter exclusively for its student-member from March 06-10, 2017. The objective of the workshop was to introduce HTML to those student-members, who were unfamiliar with basic HTML. The workshop covered important topics for webpage creation like tables, images, hyperlink and forms etc. The students listened and carried out exercises very enthusiastically and were very interactive with the trainers.

Guest Lecture on Operating System Architecture and Process Management

Department of Computer Science and Engineering Organized a Guest Lecture on “Operating System Architecture and Process Management” on 7th March 2017. Dr. R C Gangwar, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Beant College of Engineering & Technology, Gurdaspur delivered a talk on “Operating System Architecture and Process Management” to B.Tech students. In his well documented lecture, Dr. Gangwar discussed about Operating System and its evolution, Architecture of Operating System, and Process Management.

Group Discussion

Technovation Club of Department of Computer Science & Engineering/ Information Technology Organized Group Discussion Competition on 01.03.2017. The objective of the competition was to improve or expand one’s knowledge of things, to improve their confidence level and to prepare them for the interviews. The students from different streams of B.Tech, MBA, MCA, B.Sc. (Agri) participated.

Global C++ Geek: Programming Contest

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering Organized Global C++ Geek: Programming Competition on 13.02.2017. The objective of the competition was to to enthuse students in depth technical aspects of basic C++ Programming. The competition was organized and managed by the faculty and student coordinators of the CSI branch. 72 Students of different streams participated in the Competition.

Trip to Sri Anandpur Sahib

Department of Computer Science & Engineering Organized one day trip to Sri Anandpur Sahib on 10.02.2017 (Friday) for B.Tech CSE 2nd year students. The purpose of the trip was to let the students know about the rich heritage of the Khalsa Panth. The students paid obeisance at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib and also visited the heritage museum Virasat-e-Khalsa. The museum celebrates 500 years of the Sikh history and the 300th anniversary of the birth of Khalsa.

Departments of Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology organized a Guest Lecture on “Issues in Software Engineering” on 24th Jan 2017. Dr. Hardeep Singh, Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar delivered a talk on “Issues in Software Engineering” to B.Tech (CSE) and B.Tech (IT) 3rd year students of the college. In his well documented lecture, Dr. Hardeep Singh discussed about Software Engineering, Software Crisis, Costs of Software Engineering, and Attributes of Good Software, Software Engineering Models, and various challenges facing Software Engineering.

Live Video Chat On Smart India Hackathon

Department of CSE organized Live video chat on SMART INDIA HACKATHON’ 17 by Shri Prakash Javadekar Hon’ble Minister of HRD, Government of India and Chief Patron, Smart India Hackathon 2017 on 18th January 2017. This initiative aims to institutionalize a model for harnessing the creativity and technical expertise of 3.0 + million students for direct benefit of our nation. Sh Parkash Javadekar informed the students about the smart India Hackathon event and told them to submit their innovative project ideas to participate in this event

Project Exhibition

Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Global Institute of Management and Emerging Technologies held an exhibition of the software projects prepared by its students to showcase their quality work. In all 35 projects were exhibited, which were evaluated by a team of Computer experts headed by Dr. Harish Kundra and Dr. Sanjay Singla. The team members observed that all the projects were of great utility in daily life. They appreciated the students that they had worked hard on their projects and advised them that they should keep learning new skills as the computer science field is expanding everyday beyond imagination.
The experts selected Mr. Danish Sharma, Mr. Harkirat Singh and Mr. Karan Chopra’s project “E-Post” as the best. “E-Post” office system is the shopping of the world renowned on the intranet and an additional distribution channel. It sells stamps, post cards, cartoons and has services like couriers, registering for electric vendors, selling mobile cards etc.

NITTTR Sponsored STC on “Cloud Computing”

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Global Institute of Management & Emerging Technologies, Amritsar organized a 1 – week Faculty Development Programme on “Cloud Computing” in collaboration with NITTTR, Chandigarh. This was a cluster umbrella programme in which 31 colleges from all over India participated in this educational venture conducted through ICT. Dr. C. Rama Krishna, Professor and Head, NITTTR, Chandigarh and Er. Mala Kalra coordinated the various sessions. In all, 13 special expert talks on different important aspects of Cloud Computing took place. Fifty three (53) teachers attended the FDP at Global Institute of Management & Emerging Technologies, Amritsar, including 6 participants from other institutions.

NITTTR had also invited subject experts from well- known MNCs like Infosys and IBM for interaction with the faculty. The FDP proved to be very useful for the teachers. Also, the experts not only dealt with certain areas from their course of study but also discussed various research issues in the field.

The Technovation Club of Department of Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology Organized ‘Treasure Hunt’ event on 28.10.2016. The Objective was to build team spirit among students and to motivate them to use mind, body and strategy to solve puzzles successfully.

Workshop on Aptitude

Department of CSE/IT, in association with Career Launchers, organized a workshop on “Aptitude” on 18th October 2016. The expert speaker Mr. Firoz Talwar explained the importance of “Aptitude” in various job exams and interviews and also explained career opportunities in government sector jobs. He also taught smart techniques to solve quantitative problems and gave shortcut methods to solve comprehension exercises.

The students were given C++ code for debugging in specific time. The students from all streams of B.Tech, participated in the event. Bibek BC of B.Tech CSE- 3rd sem scored first position . The Objective of the Event was to create Confidence and awareness of general topics among students. The competition was organized and managed by the faculty and student coordinators of the Club. There were 2 rounds in this competition. Round 1 was the elimination round in which 8 teams (5 students in each) from different streams of B.Tech, (CSE, ECE, IT, ME, Civil), Diploma, HMCT, ATHM, MCA and BCA had participated. Out of those 8 teams, 7 students were selected for the final round. In each round participants were given topic on the spot.. Each team was given 6 minutes to speak on the topic given. International Conference on Communication, Information & Computing Technology (ICCICT-15).

A Two-Day “International Conference on Communication, Information and Computing Technology” (ICCICT-2015) was organized by the Department of Computer Applications and Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The Conference saw more than 250 quality research submission by research scholars of a large number of Technical Institutes and Universities from all over the country and abroad. Keynote speakers Dr. Deepak Garg- Professor Deptt. of Computer Science-Thapar University Patiala and and Dr. D. Dinakar from NIT Warangal delivered their talk on “Web Intelligence” and “Intensity Modulated Fiber Optic Loop Vibration Measurement” respectively. Eight sessions were held on Day-1 and the remaining 8 on Day-2. Many papers on hot contemporary research areas like Data Mining, Big Data, Mobile and Pervasive Computing, Cloud Computing, Genetic Algorithms were animatedly discussed and debated. New ideas, concepts and theories on various cutting edge technologies were heatedly discussed across various technical sessions.

Quiz Competition organized by Technovation Club

Technovation Club of department of Computer Science & Engineering has Organized ‘Quiz Competition’ on 1st April, 2015 under the supervision of the HOD (CSE) Dr. Sandeep Singh Kang. The competition was Organized and managed by the faculty and student coordinators of the Club. There were 3 rounds in this competition. Round 1 was the elimination round in which 61 teams (183 students- as there were 3 students in each team) from different streams of B.Tech, MCA and BCA had participated. There were multiple choice technical questions in this round. Out of the 61 teams, top 8 teams had qualified for round 2. It was a general quiz round. Out of 8 teams, top 4 teams had qualified for the final round, which was Rapid Fire round. In this round, the participants were asked five questions in a row. Team of Saif Rafiq(M6), Moied Guttoo(M6) and Biswash Paudel (E6) got 1st position, while the team of Rahul Kumar(M6), Kulpreet Singh(M6) and Vivek Sharma (M6) got second position. Mr. Samandeep Singh (Club Coordinator) and Ms. Ruby Singh (Club co-coordinator) had judged the competition. Winners were awarded with certificates and cash prizes by the Director Dr. Arvind Bhardwaj.

Technovation Club Organized Debugging Contest on 18th March, 2015

Technovation Club of Department of Computer Science & Engineering has Organized ‘Debugging Contest’ on 18.03.2015 under the Supervision of the HOD(CSE) Dr. Sandeep Singh Kang. Debugging Contest was the Competition for those who are skilled and Expert in Various Programming Languages. The Objective of Contest was to Check Expertise of Students in C++ Programming. Participants were given a buggy (Full of errors) Program . They had not to write the full code for the program. All they need to find errors and edit them in order to run it with valid output. One catch of this event was that they should not change the logic of the program. More than 50 Students from different streams of B.Tech, MCA and BCA have participated in the contest. Simranjit Kaur of MCA 2nd Semester has bagged Ist position and Sandeep Kaur of 4th Semester has got the Second position. Winners were awarded with Certificates and Cash Prizes by Director Dr. Arvind Bhardwaj.

Industrial visit to Sebiz Infotech, Mohali on 12th Feb, 2015.

Department of CSE Organized an industrial visit on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Sebiz Infotech, Mohali for B-Tech 3rd year students to familiarize students in terms of the technical details and Projects handled by the company on an important part of Recruitment ,Placement Policy and Various Career Opportunities in I.T. industries. Mr Sandeep Sharma, Business Development Manager, Sebiz Infotech delivered a seminar on internship training and placement opportunities. Ms Ankita from Sebiz infotech delivered a lecture about web development using PHP and Mr Kapil Sharma from Sebiz infotech took queries of students about JAVA. Overall the whole session was an educating and interactive one and was useful for students in all ways. After that Students were familiarize with various Projects undergoing in Sebiz Infotech.

Guest lecture on general awareness on cyber security

Department of Information Technology organized a guest lecture on 7th January 2015. The lecture was delivered by Mr. L.S.Chabbra, Founder and Director of the Cyber Defence Consultancy(CDI). The objective of the lecture was to raise the awareness among the mass regarding cyber security and to provide the solution to the hacking. He gave various examples of hacking and also encouraged the students to work in the field of cyber security. He also discussed the various job opportunities available in the field of cyber security.. The lecture was very timely and well appreciated by the audience.

Dr. Kawaljeet Singh, Director, University Computer Centre, Punjabi University Patiala delivered a talk on “Applications of Simulation and Modeling in the fields of Computer Applications and Management” for the MCA and M-Tech students of the College. Dr. Singh scholarly discussed on queuing theory, transportation, inventory and communication engineering to explain the rudiments of Simulation & Modeling

Mr. Ankit Gupta, Senior Software Engineer, Sunlife Pvt. Ltd, Gurgaon delivered a talk on Mainframe Computer in the field of computer science engineering and computer applications

Dr. Inderpreet Kaur, Sr. Scientist, Biomolecular Electronics an Nanotechnology Group Central Scientific Instruments Organization(CSIO),Chandigarh delivered a guest lecture on “Biomolecular Electronics and Nanotechnology: A path forward” . The expert Talk was focus on the development of biomolecular devices and sensors for heatlth care and engineering applications. This includes electrical characterization of DNA for DNA devices; Bio-MEMs based diagnosis, Biomolecular Motors for Molecular Switches and Carbon nanotubes for Targetted drug delivery and Biosensors

Workshop

Mr. Vipin Gupta from U-Net Solutions Banglore conduct a one day workshop on “Virtualization and Cloud Computing” . The main aim of this workshop was to introduce the students with the concept of Cloud computing and how to use the application of cloud computing. In this workshop student practically implement the concept of cloud computing.

International Conference

A two Days International Conference on “Emerging Dimensions in IT and its Applications in Industry” was organized by Department of CSE, IT and MCA on March 02-03, 2012. The aim of the Conference was to present, exchange and discuss the innovative and creative ideas and actual research results. 55 papers were selected for presentation during the Technical Sessions of the Conference after a dual review process by experts in the field. Four Technical Sessions were organized. The highlights of the Conference were the stimulating and seminal addresses by the Chief Guest, Mr. M.L Gupta, Vice-President, IETE, New Delhi, Keynote Speaker Mr. Ravi Ramachandra Raju, Regional Head of Infosys Infrastructure Group, India, and Guest of Honors, Dr. Hardeep Singh, Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

The Conference has been extremely beneficial to the students, application engineers and research scholars in terms of knowledge enrichment, development of spirit of innovation and research motivation.

ORACLE provided training to our faculty members at Delhi Head Office and has started certification programme for the students in the college.

DB2 Classes

IBM Academic Initiative is a program which selects institutes and colleges based on meritorious criteria, post which it engages with the same to enable the faculty and students on select IBM Software (Training and Certification). The certification requirements are tough, but it’s not rocket science, either. It’s a rigorous process that differentiates you from everyone else. Currently 52 students have already cleared the DB2 certification and 72 students are enrolled for this tough certification

Parichay

It is the name of Inter Department Technical Competitions which provide a platform for the future engineers to exercise and prove their technical capabilities. The future engineers can build up their confidence because education is not only to provide the students with knowledge but also to prepare them for coming market challenges.
