GLOBAL AND PHULKARICAN JOINTLY ORGANISE SEMINAR ON GENDER EQUALITY AND HEALTH ISSUES OF WOMEN
Global Group of Institutes in association with PhulkariCan, an NGO. organized a seminar on gender equality and health issues related to women at its campus today on 20th October 2022.
The seminar was addressed by Dr. Richa Ghay Thaman, Professor of Physiology and Scientific Head Clinical Research Centre, Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research. Ms Priyanka Goyal, a management advisor and a Psychology graduate who is engaged in several charitable organizations working towards women empowerment also addressed the seminar.
Dr Thaman & Ms. Goyal both are Programme Heads for the Phulkari Conquer Cancer Programme.
Ms. Nidhi Sidhwani (Founder President Phulkari), Ms. Tina Aggarwal (present President Phulkari WOA) alongwith their team are working hard to make Punjab the First Cervical Cancer Free State in India and they have joined hands with World Health Organization.
Dr. Richa Ghay Thaman during her address talked about the equality of sexes and expressed the view that it is all about providing a state of ease of access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender.
The facilitator Ms. Ina Singh, Ms. Neha Sharma, Ms. Radhika Bose and Ms. Rajni Bajaj from PhulkariCan also joined the awareness session on the health issues of women specially held to deliberate the issue of cervical cancer amongst women.
Ms. Priyanka Goyal while participating in the seminar said that gender equality is about ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of their time and talents.
A large number of faculty members and students attended the seminar which was conducted and anchored by Dr. Monika Arora welcomed and thanked the eminent speakers.
Dr. P.K. Sharma (Dean, Student Welfare), Dr. Manbir Kaur (Principal Pharmacy), Dr. Maalti Puri (Dean Academics) and Ms. Samiksha (Head of Management Department) were also present.
