WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY-2024
The Pharma Club of the Pharmacy Department celebrated World Pharmacists Day on 25th September 2024 in the Auditorium.
The event began enthusiastically with a Guest Lecture by Dr. Balbir Singh , former Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. His lecture, titled “Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs,” emphasized the crucial role of pharmacists and their importance within the community.
In his engaging and insightful speech, Dr. Singh highlighted the evolving role of pharmacists, not just as dispensers of medication but as essential healthcare professionals who play a key role in ensuring patient safety and contributing to the overall well-being of society.
He discussed how pharmacists have taken on more dynamic roles in patient care, offering medical advice, managing chronic diseases, and leading public health initiatives.
Dr. Singh also underscored the significance of pharmacists in addressing global health challenges, particularly in ensuring the accessibility and affordability of medicines in underserved communities.
He pointed out that as healthcare becomes increasingly patient-centered and technology-driven, pharmacists are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between patients and complex medical treatments, helping patients make informed decisions about their health.
The lecture inspired students to realize their potential to make significant contributions to society, encouraging them to continually update their knowledge and skills to meet the ever-evolving demands of the global healthcare landscape.
The session was interactive, informative, and well-received by the students.
A cake-cutting ceremony followed, in which Guest, faculty and staff participated, adding to the enjoyment of everybody.
